File Extension KEY
File extension KEY is a security key categorized under system files. It forms part of the Keynote presentation software application developed as part of the iWork productivity suite by Apple Incorporated. It was first released in august 2007, and its latest version, Keynote 4 was limited to use by Macintosh OS X 10.4 Tiger and 10.5 Leopard only.

However, today Macintosh has various programs that support it and Windows also uses it is as a common application. The KEY file extension is important in that it contains registration information or security codes for software packages. These are often created when the programs are registered and typically stored in the programs' application folder or the system preferences folder.

To open a key extension file many methods can be applied. The most common one is the drag and drop method, which is supported by Quick Key. One can move characters inside or outside Quick Key using the drag and drop mechanism. KEY file extensions can also be opened by double clicking, provided the prerequisite software packages are installed. Quick key allows a user to send the open using a specific application while adhering to a program code.

This can be facilitated by a program like MSN Messenger or MSBLClass. The alt key on the keyboard can also be used in conjunction with other program control keys to open a file extension KEY provided the Quick Key is active. Quick Key filters a user's character sets, thereby displaying only certain categories of characters. For example, by default, Control and Format characters are usually hidden. This feature also allows a user to customize group characters to a disk.
